“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?”

About Me

Sarah Argueta, LAC

I am continuously walking the path of my own healing work. I have moved through acknowledging my traumas and recognizing the ways that they have impacted how I perceive myself, the world, and myself in relationship to various internal and external systems. This work is certainly not complete and is a life-long journey.

I am actively working on attuning to my body and acting in congruency with it. I am exploring my sexual and gender identity and where pleasure can be found, rather than shame. I am practicing intentionality in my relations with the non-human world and cultivating pleasure in these relationships. Some days, I feel like I am glowing with growth and movement towards warmth and other days I have a hard time looking past what’s directly in front of me.  I am practicing being gentle with myself, nurturing my needs for rest and restoration, and opening myself to pleasure and joy.

I am on this journey just as my clients are. I see you. I know how hard it is.

My work is grounded in my studies in Prescott College's MS in Mental Health Counseling, especially their course: “Neuroscience of Relationships,” my 10+ years working in roles that positioned me in holding space for human suffering and human growth, and my many guides* in social and ecological justice and liberation work. I have four years of experience counseling children, adolescents, adults, and families and now practice as a licensed associate counselor working primarily with adults.

As a licensed associate counselor, I practice under AZ Board of Behavioral Health approved supervision. My current supervisor is: Joan-e Rapine, LPC, NCC, CCTP, CGCS email: handsinthesandllc@icloud.com phone: (808)497-3712

I see somatics and ecotherapy, with or without psychotherapy, as not only ways to liberate the individual or group engaging in the practice, but also to revolutionarily reconnect with and be in right relation with the earth and all its inhabitants.
